Brightwell reports strong growth as DB schemes enter a new endgame era

Brightwell today published its Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 30 June 2026, reporting strong financial performance, significant client growth and continued investment in technology, people and operational resilience.

Highlights:

  • Turnover of £97 million, up 27% on the previous year
  • Operating profit of £15.0 million, compared with £3.4 million in 2025.
  • Group net assets increased to £75.5 million, reflecting continued growth across the business and investment in future capabilities.

Over the year, Brightwell strengthened its position as a leading provider of integrated services to defined benefit pension schemes, combining fiduciary management, in-house pension administration and proprietary technology through Procentia.

The year saw several significant commercial milestones, including a strategic partnership with Rothesay on RothesayOne, an innovative policyholder administration platform. Brightwell was also appointed as administration partner to Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC) following the £4.3 billion buyout of the Rolls-Royce UK Pension Fund and the opening of a dedicated office in Derby to support policyholders and retain specialist scheme expertise. Brightwell also continued to support the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme and the BT Pension Scheme, while expanding its relationships across the growing pensions risk transfer market.

During the year Procentia, a Brightwell Group company, secured major client wins, including Cook County Pension Fund and Royal London, and expanded its product suite, launching the Intelli-ACT actuarial valuation platform and developing Intelli-PRT to support pension risk transfer transactions. Reflecting the Group’s confidence in Procentia’s growth potential, Brightwell invested a further £10 million in the business.

Morten Nilsson, CEO, Brightwell, said: “The past year has been transformational for Brightwell. We’ve delivered strong financial results, welcomed new clients, expanded our technology capabilities and continued to invest in the people and services that help pension schemes, members and insurers achieve better outcomes.

“The defined benefit pensions market is changing rapidly. As schemes consider their endgame options, whether that is run-on, buyout or consolidation, demand is growing for partners that can provide consistent support across the pensions lifecycle. Our integrated model, combining investment expertise, administration and technology, positions us strongly to support clients through this transitioning market.

“We remain focused on building resilience across our business and for our clients, while continuing to invest in innovation, operational excellence and exceptional people.”
